Cars in German Town Found Smeared with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement State

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Authorities stated they were contacted by a man who noticed a vehicle in Hanau smeared with red-colored fluid

Around fifty vehicles have been marked with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Automobiles, building surfaces and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they announced in a statement.

Police report they were notified late on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored liquid.

The liquid had been placed in the shape of a swastika, they added.

Law enforcement then located numerous other marked cars and residential walls in the surrounding area.

Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under laws banning the public display of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement say preliminary tests show the fluid was likely human bodily fluid.

"There is still no indication as to its origin; officials are currently not cognizant of any physical harm in association with the incident," they commented.

Local authorities announced they were attempting "to solve the case" and have asked to the public for tips.

A high-ranking political figure said the attack left him stunned and needed to be addressed promptly.

"This event hits the center of Hanau and revives the trauma of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he wrote on online, mentioning the killing of nine individuals by a gunman targeting people of migrant background in five years prior.
